Car of the Month July 2009

Bill Croxton's 1967 GTA Convertible 2009 VMOA Best of Show
At the Palo Alto Concours, I was told my '67 convertible was going to be "Car of the Month". John Cortez said he already had the pictures and needed a short article, but needed it today.
Early last year I started looking for another Mustang and a friend told me about a '67 "S" code GTA convertible. It was a San Jose built car with the original 390, C-6, it had some good options and was a great color, Silver Frost. I bought the car last summer and as it turned out, the car needed a little more work other than the new paint that I had anticipated. One thing led to another (as it always does), and before I new it, the engine and transmission was out, the interior was gutted, and the exterior was stripped of all trim, ready for the paint shop. I made use of my AAA towing and had it towed to the paint shop and then back to Mustang Fever, where the rebuilt engine and transmission re-installed. I was then able to drive it home and my grandson James and I started putting back the new interior and new exterior trim. Of course everything was either rebuilt, replaced, plated, or polished. My goal was to have it finished for the VMOA show and we finished it 1 week before the show, thanks to James and his ability to easily fit under the dash.
Congratulations! Bill and James Croxton For their 1st Place in class and Best of Show at VMOA’s 32nd Annual Car Show and A 2nd Place (67 to 68 Mustang) at The Palo Alto Concours
