National Mustang Day Cruise April 15, 2017
The meeting place was the old Wal-Mart & Blossom Hill Rd ,parking lot. Meet up time was 9am, we were on the road by 10:15 am . The count was 56 Mustangs. The 56 consist of VMOA , San Jose Mustang and Bay area mustang. There may have been a few non-members.
As we headed down Monterey Road, used both lanes. Once we were able to, Bill and I, had the lead. Bill in the right lane and I next to him in the left lane. Talk about a thrill, looking in the rear view mirror seeing all those Mustangs following us.
We then turned left on Cochrane Rd. Crossed HWY 101, then we pulled over to regroup. Then continued on Cochrane , driving by a park where the water is released from Lake Anderson. The water looked so powerful. We continued making some left and right turns through country roads with a lot to see. We then entered HWY 152 East. Passed Casa De Fruta , passing some beautiful country side. As we passed the Lake, San Luis Reservoir , it was very full of water. Before passing the Lake, we stopped at Romero Visitor Center. A parking area above the lake. Just beautiful. Great rest spot and picture taking. Dom Mino, from the SJ Mustang pulled out his drone, took pictures from above.
Back on the road and I lead the 56 mustangs to HWY 33, through Santa Nella, Gustine and on to HWY 140 to Stevinson , Ca. Very country area and many dairies and cows smells, welcome to the country. LOL!
We reached our destination, The Grove Bar & Grill in Stevinson , Ca. Most Mustangs parked in the solar covered parking area. Continued to get their drinks, and food. I heard the food service was slow , and I would like to say, I apologize . Well, ya learn where not to return as a large group.
We also continued the day with a raffle , with many prizes. Also a 50/50 raffle. The grand winner is Mary Ann Guhl , with $75 dollars and second prize was a small BBQ and accessories, winner is James Cinnamond.
The San Jose Mustang member, Kimberly Jennings ask all drivers to please donated food for Second Harvest Food Bank. 120 canned food items, donated.
Once all was completed, I asked the drivers to drive their Mustangs to the grass area. For a group photo. With the help of Kimberly, all the cars that were still in attendance parked on the lawn in a horse shoe shape. Amazing shot taken again by Dom Mino from above.
Thank you all for joining National Mustang Day cruise 2017. Also like to thank Bill for all his help, it took both of us to organize this event. Also like to Thank John Valenzuela , Rus Brown and John Thornton for help with the raffle prizes. A lot of hard work , but it was amazing !
